The project is conceptualized as an escape from visual excess and modern deluge, as a way to get back to the real meaning of what photography actually is, or in the words of Walter Benjamin, to "a previous interpretation of any language". The Internet has transformed the way in which photographs were traditionally consumed and the act of decoding an image is constantly challenged. In our times, there are more pictures than time to watch them and digest them. Group Show W aims to give the viewer a pause, including a personal selection in accordance with a significant structure. What we see and what we believe we see is constantly called into question. Group Show W is set up as a collection of photographs that question the notion of truth both by presenting an open path to fictional spaces, and by showing how bizarre reality can sometimes be. While some of the included pieces, like Ricardo Cases and Walker Pickering's work, document outlandish realities or instances of serendipity, others, like Jessica Labatte or Ruben Acosta's, openly transform what is "true" creating a place for new ideas to take shape while challenging the viewer's beliefs.
Selected Photographers: Beni Bischof, Jessica Lavatte, Kate Steciw, Alejandro Marote, Ofer Wolberger, Jairo Llano, Raoul Gatepin, Tess Hurrell, Sarah Pickering, Walker Pickering, Ricardo Cases, Anna Brooks and Rubén Acosta.
